Welcome to sheepdogs Garden Train place, Page 2.

Day 10, I spoke to some locals who said to put the track down directly on the chipped lime stone... and then I read a web site that said to screw the track to treated lumber.... So, in typical sheepdog wisdom, I decided to do some of each. I mounted the straights and turnouts to boards and let the curves float... The best part of this decision was being able to attach the connectors between track sections and their tiny 2mm screws inside on a workbench. Trying to install those itty bitty screws outside on your belly and in the limestone requires a lot of $%*%$$#@^#!!!

Day 13, I was able to prefab 6' sections and carry them outside for final assembly. As you can see, I brought in the heavy equipment to speed up the project.... :)
I have had these earth movers since I was 3 years old (It's been a while). My dad and I used to make roads in the garden... I think that may be why I'm enjoying this garden project so much. :)

Day 14, By this time, I had realized that placing the track directly on the lime stone and letting it float worked much better than the boards. It wasn't a big deal to slip the boards from under the track. I didn't quite have the complete loop done but I was able to run the train back and forth a bit. The flat car was loaded with a Bud and a Coors Light.... :)
Day 15, All the track is down and the train is making full circle.... The chipped lime stone works great for adjusting the grades!!! Once, I had it running, I just sorta stood around and watched it make loops.... :)

Day 16, The weather has turned crummy so I worked inside at the saw mill.... Took over an hour to make the trestle fixture but once complete, only a couple of minutes per trestle unit.

Day 16, The boys made good progress today and all the trestle components were completed.

Day 18, The Sheriffs Office gets primed and the Coaling station gets a start... Yup, rain again.... :(

Day 19, The weather remained crummy (as it would for most of the next month). Having heard that Ms sheepdog was working on a Sheriffs office/jail, another friend suggested any Western town worth a hoot would also need a gallows.... So, the boys got busy and we are now waiting on our first customer.. rumored to be a witch hiding out in the caves SE of Indian Rocks...
